In 2025, the Management History division launched the Ambassadors Program—an initiative designed to expand the Division’s global presence and strengthen connections with local communities of management scholars. Aligned with the Academy of Management’s broader vision to become a truly global network, this program seeks to promote the appreciation and advancement of management history across diverse regions, cultures, and academic traditions.
The Ambassadors Program was created to reinforce our global community, attract and welcome new members, and connect management history scholars across regions and career stages. Ambassadors play a vital role in extending the Division’s reach and impact by developing initiatives that engage and serve our diverse membership, promoting the Division and the Academy of Management to scholars worldwide, and connecting members within their countries or regions to promote collaboration in research, teaching, and service. They also support the Division’s activities before and during the AOM Annual Meeting by welcoming new members, assisting with events, and strengthening the sense of community that defines our Division. In addition, Ambassadors contribute to the Division’s communications and outreach efforts ensuring that our initiatives and opportunities reach a broad and inclusive audience.
To serve as an Ambassador, individuals must be enrolled members of the Management History Division within the Academy of Management. Ambassadors can be at any career stage, from doctoral students to senior scholars, but they should share a genuine commitment to advancing engagement within the Division and across the Academy of Management. We particularly encourage applications from members located in countries and regions underrepresented, as our goal is to build a truly global network of scholars who recognize the importance of history in understanding management thought and practice today.
Serving as an MH Ambassador is an opportunity to become more deeply involved in the Division, to meet a diverse and inspiring community of scholars, and to contribute actively to the advancement of management history on a global scale. Ambassadors help us bring together local and international perspectives, creating a rich dialogue that strengthens both our scholarship and our shared mission.
If you would like to become an MH Ambassador, please fill out this form. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
We warmly invite all those interested to take part in this initiative and help us build a stronger, more connected, and truly global Management History community.
