Dear Management Enthusiasts,
The Management History Division of the Academy of Management is pleased to announce the call for nominations for our annual divisional awards, which recognize outstanding contributions to the field of management history.
As we prepare for the 85th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Copenhagen, we seek to honor scholars whose research, teaching, service, and leadership have significantly advanced our understanding of management’s historical foundations.
We invite nominations and self-nominations for the following awards:
Ronald G. Greenwood Award
This award recognizes scholars who have made substantive and lasting contributions to management history through:
- Research excellence – Significant publications (articles, books, and awards) in management history.
- Leadership – Service as an MH Division officer, journal editor, or mentor to doctoral students.
- Archival development – Preservation of historical management materials (oral histories, documents, artifacts).
- Mentorship – Commitment to guiding junior faculty and new scholars in the field.
Richard M. Hodgetts Award
This award honors individuals who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service, contributing to the advancement of management history. Nominees should exhibit:
- Impactful research – Recognized publications and scholarly achievements.
- Commitment to teaching – Development of pedagogy, mentorship of doctoral students, and educational leadership.
- Service contributions – Active leadership in the MH Division and the Academy of Management.
- Support for emerging scholars – Fostering the careers of junior faculty and students.
C. Julia Teahen Award for Exemplary Service
This award recognizes exceptional service to the MH Division, honoring members who have:
- Taken on leadership roles within the division.
- Demonstrated a sustained commitment to strengthening and advancing the MH community.
- Contributed to the growth and success of the division through active engagement.
Emerging Scholars Award
This award acknowledges early-career researchers (within 10 years of earning their PhD) who show exceptional promise in the field of management history.
- Candidates must demonstrate a strong research agenda with impactful contributions.
- Evidence of scholarly promise through publications, ongoing projects, and future research objectives.
- Nomination Requirements: A cover letter outlining contributions, a CV, and supporting materials.
Diverse Voices in Management History Award
This award celebrates scholars who champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in management history. Contributions may include:
- Research that amplifies underrepresented voices and perspectives in management history.
- Development of inclusive pedagogy and mentorship of historically underrepresented scholars.
- Leadership in DEI initiatives within the MH Division and the Academy of Management.
- Support for diverse scholars through mentorship and advocacy.
Daniel A. Wren Research Award
This prestigious award exclusively recognizes research excellence in management history. Unlike other awards, service and teaching contributions are not considered.
- Publication record – Articles, books, and other scholarly contributions to management history.
- Research impact – Citation analysis and academic influence.
- Endorsements from leading scholars – Letters supporting the nominee’s research excellence.
