Dear Management History enthusiasts,
We are pleased to share with you a unique opportunity for a fully-funded three-year PhD studentship at Aston Business School and the School of Law and Social Sciences, commencing in January 2025. This project, titled "Using History-Based Digital Storytelling to Shape Strategy," offers an exciting intersection between historical research, digital innovation, and strategic management.
Project Overview:
Innovation and strategy implementation within organizations often require significant changes in attitudes and behaviors. Storytelling, particularly when grounded in historical context, has been recognized as a powerful tool to facilitate these changes. This PhD project will explore the effectiveness of history-based digital storytelling in influencing strategic decision-making processes. The research aims to identify the most impactful features of storytelling, whether verbal, written, or digital, and their respective effects on organizational behavior.
Building on Aston University’s previous project, "Insights from History," this research will also involve collaboration with the Archives of IT. The successful candidate will engage in interviews, focus groups, and other qualitative research methods to explore how audiences interact with digital stories and how these narratives influence strategic decisions.
